MESSRS WHITCOMBS AND TOMBS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The threatened consequences of the dispute between the labour organisations; and Messrs Whitcombo and Tombs being so-serious, it would perhaps be advisable for the parties to plainly state the amount of wages Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs are pacing for labour and the amount they would have to pay under Union rules. This will enable the public to judge as to the merits of the question. It Messrs • Whitcombe and Tombs are working on non-union lines merely to save the expenditure of money which other printers have to pay, then it is for the public to consider whether it is worth the inconvenience of a total suspension of trade in order to allow this Company to compete with others who have adopted the Union rules. —I am, &c., PAX. Lyttelton, August 4.
