ROAD BOARDS.

TAI TAPU. The ordinary meeting was held on August 3 ; present—All the members.—lt was resolved —“That ratepayers of the district receive poisoned grain gratia in quantities of not more than half a bushel at the time, and ratepayers outside the district at 7s 6d per bushel.”—A discussion arose as to payment of balance due on river contract. It was agreed—- “ That be paid to Leatham and £5 to Heriihy.”—ln reference to a sum of £5 8d paid by this Board for clearing lower end of river district, it was resolved—- “ That the Little River and Springs district be asked to pay the sum.”—lt was resolved—“ That tenders be invited to quarry and break five hundred cubic yards metal at Ahuriri quarry, and two hundred cubic yards at Reserve No. 2, near Rabbit Island; that the flood-gate at Kimber’s bridge be repaired, and the ditch deepened.”—Letters were read on matters of detail. —It was resolved to make a general rate of three farthings in the £, and a Waimakariri rate of three-sixty-fourths of a penny. —It was proposed by Mr Mangles, seconded by Mr Grilmour, and carried “That, although the Board thoroughly acknowledged the services rendered by the Surveyor in connection with extra works, it is considered inexpedient for this Board, in these days of retrenchment, to make an extra payment therefor.”—After passing Accounts, the Board adjourned.
