Walnuts yield half their weight m oil, the flavour of which ia thought equal to that of the finest Lucca oil. This very fruitful tree, which we see flourishing along the high road and in the orchards of the peasants, is one of great utility to the German; his furniture is made from it, the leaves dye a good black, and he feeds his cattle with the shells of the nuta that have supplied his oil.
