In Germany ladies may marry anyone they like if they are of age. Not to men. They require their parents’ permission until they are twenty-five. However, in case ol refusal, the sons may demand a reason, and place this before the authorities, who, if they do not see sufficient ground for the refusal, will declare it invalid, and tb< marriage will proceed.
