WELLINGTON ITEMS.
[Bt Telegraph. J [from ode own correspondent. J WELLINGTON, Dec. 4. A meeting of the Cabinet was held this morning, at which the following members of Government were present—The Premier, the Colonial Treasurer, the Colonial Secretary, Minister of Public Works, Minister of Lands, Minister of Justice, and Minister for Mines. It is currently reported that from Jan. 1 next the office hours in the Civil Service will be extended thus •. —Clerks will be required to attend at 9 a.m. and remain till 5 p.m., an hour being allowed for lunch. It is understood that Mr Bullen, late of Christchurch, is to be njoved from Napier to Nelson, and that Inspector Atcheson will take charge of the Napier district. The Post urges the Wellington cricketers, after their terrible defeat, to obtain the services of a professional coach, submit to instruction, and go in for regular practice together when selected to play in a match.
There was a very successful breaking-up demonstration an Bt Patrick’s College last night, when Bishop Redwood presented the prizes. The success achieved by this College in its first year is phenomenal.
