G. faTAVELET, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, offered on Saturday, at Mr Charles Clark’s anction room, a residence in Blfgh’s road, the property of Mr Isaac Wilson ; some laud at Ballington, the property of Mr George Lloyd ; and Dr Doyle’s farms at Kirwee and Tol Tapu. Notwithstanding his eloquent panegyric on the various properties, he could not get any bid over the reserve, and the properties were unsold. Probably sales may be effected privately. Messrs H, Matson and Co. held a property sale On Baturday. Mr J. T. Matson acted as auction- er. The lease ot file Whiteclitfs coal mine property, 3u3 acres of laud, with twentv-six years to run, was sold for £2lO to Mr H. Marks. A town lot in Lichfield street, near Barrett’s Hotel, having 53tt frontage, with a depth of 80ft, was sold to Mr H. Marks for £9 5s per foot frontage. Messrs Aclakd, Bahns and Co., agents for the Canton Insurance Office, Limited (Marine), have submitted the following report and balance-sheet, as presented at the fifth ordinary general meeting, held at the offices of tho General Agents, on daturday, Oct. 23, 1886 REPORT. The General Agents and Consulting Committee have now to submit to shareholders the final accounts for the year 1885, and an open statement of the present year’s working to Kept. 30. The net profit on the working account of 1885, after providing for all outstanding claims, is 260,023-81dol. Uut of this sum, 217,023-81dol has been paid for the dividend of 10 per cent to shareholders and bonus of 20 per cent to contributors of premia : the balance of 33,000d0l it is intended to place to the-credit of the reserve fund, raising the reserve to 188,000Jol. . The estimated position of the working account of the present year, after allowing for all known losses and claims, as well as commission and charges, shows a balance at credit of 494,906d0L Consulting Committee.—Under Section 15 of the Articles of Association, five members have to be appointed to serve with the Chairman of the Con* suiting Committee during the ensuing financial year, and the present members, Messrs Eyrie, Dalrymple, 8a?soon, Bottomley and Darby, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election accordUnder Clause 110 of the Articles of Association, Messrs A, Coxon and A. P. MacFwen retire, but being willing to serve, the General Agents and Consulting Committee have pleasure in recommending them for re-eleotion as auditors to the Company. Mr A.
