The Council of Health lias reported ia favour of the expulsion of all dairy cows from Paris. There are upwards of 5000 of these animals in the capital, and they arefound to be a prolific source of pulmonary consumption. The hangman of Vienna, a man named Heinrich Willenbacher, died March 14, in his fifty-first year. He had held his office for twenty-four years, and during that time had executed thirty-six criminals. This is- 4* not a large number for a city with a million of inhabitants; but murders, and, indeed, V all crimeß of violence, are of rare occur- ■ rence in Vienna, the manners of the in- J habitants being proverbially gentle.
