SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
♦ The Geraldine School Committee held. their monthly meeting on Wednesday evening last, Mr N. Dunlop, Chairman, presiding. The head master's report was read and considered. It stated that the average attendance during the past four weeks was 189. As he was about leaving the school, he thanked the Committee for their uniform courtesy extended to him during their term of office. It was decided that a testimonial should be given MrHughes as. to his efficiency, &e. Account* amounting to £3 19s 9d were paased for payment. Twenty applications for the head mastership of the school were re* ceived, and it was decided tc hold over consideration of same till Monday, August 23. A letter was read from the Board of Education, intimating that Mr G. H. Turnbull would act as locum tenens till a new master was appointed, and would take up the duties on August S. The Visiting Committee reported having; visited the school on July 20, on which date the attendance was 206. Everything was found in thorough working order. The Chairman and Messrs C. E. Sherratt and G. Ward were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing , month, and the meeting then terminated.
