A CONTRADICTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —The statement contained in your Wellington correspondent's paragraph, which appeared in your issue of Friday lastj relative to Captain Hansby's services being dispensed with by the Union Company, on account of the recent grounding of his vessel, the Hawea, at Nelson, is entirely without foundation, and I am pleased to be able to contradict same. The general manager telegraphed on Saturday last to the effect that as the Hawea, on the occasion of the recent mishap, was in charge of a licensed pilot, the Directors do not attach any blame whatever to Captain Hansby, and that the best answer to the report in circulation is the fact that Captain Hansby is still in command. In justice to Captain Hansby, I trust you will give publicity to this contradiction.—l am, &c, A. D. FEASEE, Branch Manager, Union S. S. Co.
