SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

SEFTON. A meeting of this Committee was held on Monday evening ; present—Messrs Eobertson, Baird, Pemberton and Barclay. In the unavoidable absence of Mr Yaughan, Mr Eobertson was voted to the chair. The Committee’s books were returned from the Education Board, duly audited and certified as correct. Mr Hammond submitted the balance-sheet of receipts and expenditure in connection with the children’s treat, accompanied with vouchers. The total receipts amounted to £l4 11s, and the expenditure to £l4 19s Id* The Inspector’s report on the Standard examination of the school was received from the Board. The report was highly favourable, showing a percentage of passes of 85. The Committee expressed their high satisfaction at the efficient state of the school. A letter was received from the Board, intimating that the pupil teacher had passed the first year’s examination, and enclosing a list of the marks gained. On the proposition of Mr Baird, seconded by Mr Barclay, it was unanimously resolved—“ That the Committee! record their votes for the Board election in favour of Messrs C. C. Bowen, A. H. Cunningham, and A. Saunders.” A number of circulars, re Penny Post-office Saving* Banks for school children, were received from the Education Department. The .Committee expressed their sympathy with the movement, and ordered the notices to be distributed to the children. Mr Pemberton called attention to the bad water supply, and it was arranged to deepen the well and provide a better pump, so soon a& funds would permit.
