MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The fourth anniversary of the Loyal Leeston Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was celebrated by a dinner last Friday evening at the Leeston Hotel. There were, nearly forty brethren present, the chair being occupied by P. G. Bro Jameson, supported on the right by D.G.M. Bro Leahy, and the vice-chair by G.M. Bro Barrel!. In responding to the toast of the district officers, D.G.M. Bro Leahy congratulated the Lodge on the efficiency of its officers, and on the success that it had attained ; he trusted that all the members would attend the Lodge meetings as often as possible, and strive to pass through the various chairs. Bro Barrell, in proposing the toast of the Trustees, referred to the liberal manner in which host Spring had given the Lodge the free use of one of his rooms for meetings, and also stated that Bro S. Wills, who was now in England, wished to be remembered to the Lodge. Bro Spring, in responding, said he had the good of the Order at heart, and as long as he was proprietor of the Leeston Hotel, the Lodge would be welcome to the use of one of his rooms free of charge. The Chairman stated that the Lodge had been in existence exactly four years, and during that time had admitted 59 members, 43 of whom were at the present time good on the books, that out of the 16 who had left only five or six had seceded from the Order, and the others had been granted clearances to other Lodges ; also that the Lodge had accumulated about .£IBO in funds, wl ich he thought was very satisfactory. During the evening several songs were rendered by the brethren, and altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent.
