FIRE AT NAPIER

[Psa Press Association.] NAPIER. Feb. 29. A six-roomed house, together with a workshop and stable, was destroyed by fire early this morning in the mam street. The inmates were aroused by the screams of the children, by which time the names had a good hold. The family escaped in their night clothes. The brigades wore fiuicklv on the spot, but there was no occasion for using the engines, as there was a splendid pressure of water, the locality being in an out-of-the-way pivrt of ti e town. By tho time the brigades ■u rired there was no holm of saving the promises, and tho fire had •communicated with the stable and workshop, which, V>m,r but shells, containing inflammable matmials, were quickly consumed. The efforts of the brigades were therefore directed towards saving the adjoining dwelling-houses.
