We are informed by Mr Agar that, finding tho Lyttelton far too small tor the rapidly increasing passenger traffiato Governor's Bay and elsewhere, they h»vs docidad on ordering another and larger boat. It is for this purpose Sir Agar is going Home in the first ot the direct liners. The boat aad engines will be built by Messrs Yarrow and Co., of Mill will, builders of tho launch Ljttalton, whioh faot inicselt should onanre a g:od article. The boatwi'l be of about the following dimensions:— length, 70ft j beam, 184 ft; and she will steam ten know oa a smill consumption of coal, of which foal she will be able to aarry eight or nine tons, betides having every oonveoieaoa for passengers, DEPA&TUBE OF THE 8.8. BBITISH KING. At spvqti minutes to 8 on Saturday afternoon, the British King cast off trom the wh.rf in Lyttelton Harbour with a fall complement ot passengers, end at much oar*o as she could carry. Under Captain M'JLellan, barboor-master, she slowly steamed down ths harbour to a berth oft Camp Bay, where the list ot har crew was called over aad the final preparations made for her departure for the Old Country. We xnoßt congratulat* the New Zeiland Shipping Company on iheqalck despatch whioh, in the face of many difficulties, she bars been given. One of these difficulties was that she discharged and was loaded at a wharf of insufficient length, making it constantly necessary to move the trucks she whs using biokwards and forwards as they were filled or discharged. We understand that the Harbour Board have ia contemplation the preparation ot a special berth for tcese large steamers, where the trucks when finished with oan be more easily disposed of. The stesmer is in flrst-olass trim tor making a quick passage, as she draws about SSitt on an oven : keel. Giving her SO days to report at London, she should arrive there about May 27. She may be expected baok here about the middle of July next. We wish Captain Kelly, who has made a host of friends daring his Eta/ in this pi rt, a fast passage and a quick return. post ojlytmlton.
