Th* schooner Awam arrived at Port Chairaers c*n Saturday from a cruifco at tii© A.ucEland Ldaiidx. Captain Drew reports leaving tha island* on Oct 3, and then experienced westerly and north - we. t winds to arrival. Wo ore sorry to heir that some very disgraceful proceeding* have oocu red at the Aucxlnads, and trust that the persona concerned in it will be brought to book. Captain Drew states that when on hia last visit to the island* (some four months ’back) he left a very fine whaleboat there, and on his return found the boat had been literally hacked to pieces. The keel was chopped in two, her stern knocked off, and the hack of an axe had been driven through every plonk, rendering her (perfectly useless. Borne persons had chalked on the boat the words “ This is gone for spite.” Captain Drew is of opinion that this act was the work of some other sealing party visiting tho island. We hope the persons who committed so cowardly an act will ho found out. end nude to answer for their conduct.— Otajo Daily T ir/ica, ENGLISHSHIPPING. (Karopfcn Slci'i, Auyust 27.)
