Maixiii No. 11—Any member. Ranges: 400, 500, and 600 yards. Snider or muzzleloading rifles of Government pattern. Twelve - priees,-value £SO, A Match. No. only. Ranges r ' 200 And 800 yards. Any large-bore carbines. Seven prizes, value £25. Match-No. 18—Ranges: 200,500, and 600 ' yards. Open only to the 10 highest aggregate sooren belonging to each island in matches 2,6, and 9, who shall produce certificates of efficiency for the Volunteer year ending March 81,1878, rifles to be the some as used In those matches. In the event of a tie in the aggregate scores, both sides will fire shot for shot at 600 yards. The Rifle Challenge Cup to be held by the highest scorer in the winning team for 12 months. A money prize of £5 will be given with the cup, and the highest scorer on the losing side will receive a prize of £5. Match No. 14—Carbine match, North v. South. Ranges: 200, 400, and 500 yards. Conditions as above, and winners in matches 3,6, and 10 competing. A tie to be shot off at 500 yards. Frizes as in match No. 13. If either of the challenge cups is won two years in succession (or three years at intervals) by the same person, it will become the absolute property of such winner. Former winners under the Government Colonial Prize Firing regulations are allowed to count. Match No. 15—Ladies’ prize, any number. Ranges: 200,250, and 300 yards. Any rifle or carbine. First prize, ring presented by Mrs Walls, and any other prizes which may be presented. The. conditions are not affixed to matches 16, 17 (Licensed Victuallers’ prize) and 18. .. First prize presented by Stoke Rifles. Match No. 19—Consolation. Any member. Ranges: 200, 300, and 400 yards. Twelve prizes, value £25. The highest aggregate scorers in Matches Nos. 2,5, and 9, who shall produce a ticket of efficiency for the Volunteer year will be the Rifle Champion for 1879, ami entitled to hold the Belt for 12 months. The highest aggregate scorer in Matches 3,6, and 10, who shall produce a certificate of efficiency for the Volunteer year ending March 81, 1878, will bo the Volunteer Carbine Champion for 1879, and entitled to hold the Belt fer 12 months. If either of the Champion Belts are won two years in succession (or three years at intervals) by the same person, it will become the absolute property of such winner, the former winners under the Government Colonial Prize Firing Regulations being allowed to count. Entries by telegraph or otherwise may be addressed to the Secretary at Nelson to Feb. 28, and post entries can be made until March 3, on payment of an additional fee of 2s 6d per match.
