A large and influential meeting of the residents of Kowai Pass and neighbouring districts was held, at Davies’ Junction Hotel, on Jan. 30, to consider the desirability of holding races at the Kowai Pass this year. ' In the absence of Mr Enys, Mi- H. Williamson was voted to the chair, and the advertisement convening the meeting was then read. A telegram from Mr J. D. Enys, Chairman of the Domain Board was read, regretting his inability to attend.
