Surveyor’s report was considered.—The following correspondence was read and disposed of: —From Mr E. Jackman in reference to the re-com-mencement of hi* contract on Tramway road. —From Deputy Commissioner of Land Thx, applying for rate roll} and a second letter asking for information as to the cost of the valuation of the district, and the name of the last valuator. . ®ie Chairman informed the Board that the roll had been furnished and (be information sought for given. , A circular was road from Mr J. L- Wilson, Chairman of Committee of the Boad. Board’s Conference, Which explained the action of the Conference in reference to the impounded land fund, and stating that the total expense connected therewith wae £276 6s 7d, and asking if the Board would oontribute towards this amount in proportion tothe amount recovered for the district. Stafford for hie decision.—A ocounts amounting to £597 11s 8d having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned till after the annual meeting.— Afterward* the Board met, and the foUowIng new members took their seats Messrs J. W. Overton, and H. W. Peryman, Mr Wm. 0. Ladbrook, being absent.—Mr H. W. Peryman .on being re-elected Chairman for the ensuing term, thanked the members present for the honour conferred oh him, and expressed his determination to attend to the the business of the. district with the same application as during the past 12' months.—Mr Sharp interviewed the Board in reference to a culvert near his property, also as to cleaning ditch along ms fence on the Halswell Boad, by Ladbrook’s. The matter was ordered to stand over, not being urgent.—lt was resolved, —“ That tenders be invited for cleansing out Townahcnd’s drain,returnable on Jan IS.*"—Complaints having been made that twogateswere placed across Morahead’s road, alongside Townsend’s drain, the Chairman and Surveyor wore requested to examine the locality, with a view ot ordering their immediate removal.—Besolved—“ That la extra per day be given the Board’s men during the month of January.—The Surveyor was authorised to do all hecesaaiy work at the drain on White and Leadley’s road; to cart shingle on Shand’s road from Early’s corner southward, where necessary to fill up hallow places j and to break all large stones on the various roads throughout the district.—lt was decided to alter the hour of meeting to 2.30 p.m. for the present.—The Board then adjourned.
