ROAD BOARDS.
LINCOLN. A meeting of this Board was held at the office, Prebbleton, on Thursday, Dec. 2. Present—Messrs Marohant, Leadley, Maskrey, and Wills ; in the absence of the Chairman, Mr Marohant was voted to the chair. —The Surveyor read his report, which was considered.—lt was decided to put a pipe culvert under the Shand’s road at Harding’s comer, and another , across the Ellesmere road by Dawson’s at Schaffer’s corner; also, to call for tenders for re-forming twelve chains, more or less, of Selwyn road, near mills.—Mr Cookson and Mr Maskrey were authorised to receive and accept a tender. — Tenders were opened, and one accepted in each of the following works :—Knight’s and Shawe’s road, and the Tramway Drain road. —The Surveyor was instructed to take out summonses against all persons whose rates were not paid by Dec. 9. Also to advertise the annual meeting of ratepayers, to elect two members to serve on the Board in the place of Messrs Tosswill and Maskrey, who retire by rotation.—The paysheet amounting to £297 7a lOd having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned.
ELLESMERE. A meeting of this Board was held at Leeston on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Present—Messrs 0. J. Bridge (Chairman), R. Lockhead, J. Rennie,*§. D. Acland, and G. B. Woodman. — A letter was read from Messrs Fitzroy and Acland, requesting the Board to clear out Tamutu Creek, and offering to pay one-third of the cost and keep it clear for the future, as considerable damage had been done to Finoham’s road by the want of clearing it. Granted—Messrs Mouldney and Greenly waitedWnrthe Board, and requested that a quantity of water on the road opposite their section might be cleared away. The Beard decided to enlarge the mouth of the main drain, and instructed the overseer to call for tenders. —Mr M'Conkey waited on the Board and asked for an cutlet to be made from the drain on the Lake road to the Lake Flat, and offered to pay one-third of the cost. The Oveseer was instructed to inspect the work required, and to report on the same at the next meeting.—Mr Fay applied for the Branch Drain road to be metalled. The Overseer was instructed to find out where the metal necessary could be obtained, and to report at the next meeting.— The Board decided to erect a post and rail fence at the Irwell. Station, to tie up horses, &c. —Mr Frankish waited on the Board, asking them to metal the Lower Lake road. The Board decided to recommend the formation to their successors in office.—Mr Metcalfe applied to the Board, asking them to form a portion of the Boundary Creek road, opposite his section, to the full width. The application was granted.—The Overseer was instructed to call for tenders for deepening Boggy Creek below the main road.—Messrs Scott and Wilson asked the Board to put a culvert across the Branch Drain road, near Frampton’s. Granted. Messrs M'Pheraon, Mathews, and several others, applied to the Board for the formation of Davies’ road to the full width. The Board decided to refer the application to the new Board..—The formation of Harman’s road, from the main road to the Trigpole, and some necessary alterations on the Lake road, were also left to the decision of the new Board.—The Board decided to take legal proceedings for the recovery of the promised subscriptions towards the formation of Bluett’s road. —Resolved — « That the annual meeting of ratepayers be held on Jan, 4,1876.”—The Overseer was instructed to sue for such rates as remained unpaid by Dec. 20.—Tenders for various works were opened and. considered by the Board.—The Overseer’s report was read and considered. The pay-sheet, amounting to £304 19s sd, was passed for payment, A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting.
