AVON ROAD BOARD.

The usual meeting took place yesterday. There were present —The chairman, Mr Laine, and Messrs Tisch and Dickinson.

The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

The Clerk reported that since last meeting he had received the following sums, and placed them to the Board’s credit in the bank, viz., general rates, £44 lls 7d ; separate, £1 6s 3d; t otal, £45 17s lOd. The balance to the Board’s credit at the bank is £ 114 Os 7d. That accounts passed last meeting were paid, and vouchers signed for them, and other matters.

The report was considered. Tenders were opened for St, Albans drain, and one was accepted. A letter was real from the Board p£ Conservators, relating to the Waimakariri rate for 1871-2. The Board decided that an answer be sent, stating that the Board was ready to proceed with the collection of the rate of 1872, hut with respect to that of 1871 the Board would be glad to receive an answer to its letter of the 27th January last, iu which the Board asked on which roll the Board of Conservators had struck the rate of 1871.

A letter was read from Mr Gould, asking the Board to shingle a portion of the Springfield rood near his residence and also to fill in the drain opposite thereto, and he would pay the cost thereof. The Clerk informed the Board that he had commenced to fill in the drain and the shingling of the road would be proceeded with immediately. A letter from Mr Hudson was read relating to the filling in of (be drain on the Northcote road. A letter from the Government was read informing the Board that a further amount was ready on account of tho Provincial and General Government grants; also requesting the Board to furnish the Government with the names of the gentlemen who were serving os members on the Board. _ . The Clerk was directed to give the desired information, and apply for tho 25 per cent, on account of tho Provincial Grant. After passing the accounts tho Board adjourned.
