Mr Attwood had an interview with the Board, and Requested that Bargdod’si Rood should 1$ Jjjeialtod, and explained that as there was c hsiderable traffic oh the road, it was necessary that it should be put in a fit state r tp carry it. The Surveyor was instructed to report «pon it. A letter from the Rpreydon Road Board was read, in which that Board requested permission to deepen the drain on Colombo Koad, which is in this district, and which carries away the water from a portion of the Sproydon district. The Board, after considerable discussion, decided that it would be unadvisahle to have the drain in qdeation deepened, as it would make it unsafe to the public, but it would allow the cleansing of the present drain by the Spreydon Board. Mr Piper wrote to the Board relative to the condition of the road near his brick yard, and offered to make one-half of it for £3 10s, which offer was accepted. The Surveyor’s report was read and considered, and he was instructed to inform Mr Martin that as the cutting the proposed drain at Mr. Martin’s would only benefit the proprietors of land adjacent, and not the road, the Board d dined to have the work done, The Surveyor was also instructed to inform Mr Wright, in answer to his letter and memorial, that as the road proposed to be made near Mr Oowlishaw's land would cost double the amount of metalling the existing one, the Board is willing to do the latter work, if the residents near will contribute half the cost. The Surveyor was also instructed to call for tenders for making roads at Waltham, and to see Mr Wilson and Mr Kennaway relative to the drainage of the Heathcote Valley, as complained of by Messrs Wilson and others in the memorial received at last meeting. The Board then adjourned until Monday, the Ist May.
