CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN MARKET.
Wheat—There was but a limited supply of home grown wheat in the market, and the demand has been in a very inactive state. There is a slight tendency to a rise, higher prices being demanded, and white wheat may be quoted at 5s 9d, red ditto 5s 6d per bushel. Barley is getting scarce, but owing to the largo stock in the hands of maltsters no perceptible change can be noted from our last quotations. , Oats—Anticipations of a scarcity in this article induced farmers to hold back their supplies early in the season, but so far from causing a rise, it has had an opposite tendency, and good sound oats havo changed hands lately at an average price of 5s 6d per bushel, and the market is well supplied. Flour still maintains our last quotations of £16 to £1610s per ton wholesale, ditto 18s per 100 lbs retail.
