The Town of Akaroa being surrounded by large forests, is the centre of a large and increasing timber trade. The situation of the town, and the beautiful scenery of the harbor, must always render Akaroa the favorite retreat and watering place of the Canterbury province. The above hotel is well calculated for the accommodation of a large number of visitors. There is a bonded store belonging to the premises, close to the beach, also the use of five acres of bush at the back. There is also a splendid stream of water running close bythe door, the only convenient place for watering ships in the harbor.
