We are only able this week to give the results oT the election of.members to the House of Representatives for the Grey and Bell, and Omata district's. Thecamlidates for the Grey and Bell district were Charles Brown, Esq , and T. Hirst, E>q. Ihe show of hands was in favour of the former gentleman, and a poll was demanded by Mr Hirst. Toe polling took place on Thursday, and terminated in the electiou of Mr. Brown' - The candidates f„ r t|„. Om.-.ia district', were A. W East, Esq., and IV. M. Crompton, Esq. ihe show of hinds at the nomination beinequal, a poll was demanded »n behalf of 'Mr East, and after a close run on the poll on the folio>yjug day, that gentleman was returned by a m.-'j ority of six. .The election of a member to the seat in the Provincial Council, vacant by the resignation of Mr. Biascbke, to.ik place on Mot.dav,'when Mr George Curtis was returnd without' opposition' "—laranaki Herald.
