LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.

Steam Communication.—At a meeting held at the Mine Hotel on Tuesday hist the following gentlemen were elected a Committee to further investigate the subject, and draw up a report to he read at an adjourned meeting:— For Lyttelton, Messrs. H. Latter, M. J. Le Cren, and A. Bayfeiid. For Christohureh, Messrs. R Packer, G. Gould, and C. Bishop. The adjourned meeting lo be lield on Tuesday the 10tli January.
