Sir William Denison.—There is a report that a new office is to be created, in consequence of the cessation of transportation to Australia, that of Director-General of Convict Discipline for the United Kingdom, and that Sir William Denison is to be nominated, with a salary ot £4000.

Smith O'Brien.—A. deputation composed of upwards of fifty of the inhabitants, waited upon Mr. O'Brien, at the Cornwall Hotel, on Thursday last, by appointment, for the purpose of presenting that gentleman with an address on the occasion of his departure from the colony.
