PROPOSED TOWN HALL, CHRISTCHURCH.

The adjourned meeting, to conclude the consideration of the Committee's Report, - took place at the Golden Fleece Hotel, last Saturday. In the absence of Captain Simeon, Mr. W. G. Bhutan was requested to take the Chair. The Minutes of the former Meeting were read and confirmed. After considerable discussion, in which Captain Westenra, the Rev. W. W. Wiixock, and Messrs. J. Beai/ey, C. C. Bowen, J. HATit, Wakefiei/d, Packer, Cridland, and Porter, took part, Section No. 733,belonging to Mr. Wakefield,wasdeeided upon as the site; and the building to be commenced so soon as 700 shares were A taken. At the termination of the meeting, 578 shares of £l each had already been applied -for; for 423 of which the regular printed forms of application have been filled up. The site fixed upon, has three frontages, viz., on Hereford street, and on Cathedral -"•Square;' and the coiner faces down the Sumner Road towards the S.E. The design includes one large hall, 66 ft. by 22, with a gallery 10 feet wide ; and two rooms, united by a verandah, capable of being enclosed. A door from the gallery opens to a covered balcony over the porch, to serve the purpose of hustings, &c
