NOTICE TO CORRESPONDENTS.
; We have no room this weekfor Colonel Campbell's letter, npr for Mr. Dampier's speech on Monday last. Both will appear in our next. Owing to a press of electioneering, we are compelled to defer much matter toe have in type, amongst which are some remarks referring to the new Journal which is about being established in the Settlement. We have been earnestly requested not to publish the particulars of the distressing incident that occurred at Cliristchurch on Saturday last, out of consideration to the feelings of many here and in Eiigland. We feel it to be impossible not to comply with the request. Exception has been taken to a similar course we pursued on another melancholy occasion ; but in such cases, we prefer consulting the feelings of a few, rather than gratify the tastes of many. We shall, at all times, be happy to receive communications on matters of local and general interest. We do not, however, undertake to hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments and opinions of those wfio may favour us with their communications.
