TO THOMAS HICHENS, Esq.
Sik,—Having laid your letter of the 6th inst. before the General Meeting of the Christchurch Colonists' Society this evening, I am requested to inform you, in reply, that that Society regret you should have been put to inconvenience by the appearance of your name as a Member of the Elections' Committee, when you had declined to act in that capacity. I beg to Li form you, that this occurred through
a misunderstanding, as several of those present at the last General Meeting, including the Secretary, conceived that you had consented to act on the Committee. I remain, Sir, your very obedient servant, C. W. Bishop.
