Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., report (or weok ended Thursday, 23rd August, 1917, as follows:

Fat Cattle :—250 yarded A large yarding came to hand, of not too good quality. Prices were easier than last week's rates. Quotations: Best bullock? £2O to £2l 10s; extra to £23 I 03; medium to good £l6 10s to £lB 10s; best cows aud heifers £l6 to £l7; extra to £23; medium to good £l4 to £\s; others £lO up. Fat Sheep.—2262 penned a meoium yarding. Taken on the whole tho quality was not sc good as of late, and values showod a drop of about la 6d on Into r ates. Best wetberj 42s to 48s; extra to 55u; medium to good 35s to 38s ; beet ewe 6 42a to 453; extra to 4'Ja 9d; medium to good 34s to 38-i; others 27s 6d up Pigs—A very smali yarding cf fats came to hand, and for these an advaucu m I net week's high rates must be reported A large yarding of stores wus offered, and prices, ssrecially for suckers, were slightly easier than last week.

All quotations are subject to market fluctuations : Wheat.—Good demand at Government prices. Oats.—Market firm. Milling 3/10 to 4/-, brigat short feed 3/8 to 3/9, medium and lnferio 3/3 to 3/6 on trucks. Rabbitskins—Market unsettled, owing to difficulty of obtaining freight. Prices at Monday's sale showed a reduction of Id to'3d on last quotations. Summers 14d to 16d, racks IHd to autumns 23d to 28d, incoming 31d to 33d, to 61d. winter bucks 35d to 39i" winter does 36d to "0d per lb. Hides—Government has now taken these over and valuations are held every three weeks. Tallow—Market firm at late rates. Rcu«b fat 16s to 20a. tallow in tins 26s to 28s, casks 28s to 35s oer owt.
