Capital, energy, and faith only arc needed to make this the best and most permanent quartz field yet opened in New Zealand.

A memorial has been forwarded to the Hon. E. Richardson, Minister of Public Works, asking for railway communication from Kingston to Frankton, thence to Cromwell via Arrow. A largely-attended meeting was held in Queenstown for the purpose of urging on Government the necessity for the railway. Mr W. Warren (Mayor of Queenstown) took the chair, and among the speakers were the Rev. D. Ross, Messrs R. Pritchard (Mayor of Arrowtowo), Malaghan, Crofts, \V. T. Smith, H. J. Cope, and others, who all gave good and sound reasons for the necessity of immediate steps being takeu by Government to survey the best route for the proposed line. The

feeling of the meeticg seemed to be that Queenstown was the proper place to commence the line at the Lake County end, and Cromwell the Vincent County end. A resolution was carried urging Government to complete the line from Kingston to Arrow as soon as possible. The report stated that " the meeting lasted about two hours, and was of the most orderly and sensible character."
