TUTUED SHEEP.
Cold Water Cure. A reliable local sheep farmer has given the Wyudham Herald for publication a piece of information that should be of much value to sheep men ; that is, a cure for tutued sheep. It is so simple that one may at first doubt its efficacy. But we have the word of this gentleman that he has tried it and proved its worth. Ho first heard of it from a Canterbury man, the practice having been found successful there. The remedy is simply this : To catch hold of the sheep and give it a good drink, pouring down its throat as much wat ,ras it will take. There is seldom any difficulty in getting water along a road'. If a bottle is not available, a soft felt hat does to convey the water. The remedy is speedy in its effect, the animal coming on at once and following i he drove. The Herald has heard of a number of other remedies from time to time, such as bleeding, doses of kerosene or carbonate of soda (to get rid of the distension), but the water cure appears to be ahead of all others for its efficacy no less than its simplicity.
