A terrible shooting fatah'ty occurred in an Overtown (N.S.W.) household. John Field, a dairyman, was disturbed at night by a supposed burglar. F.eicl and his sons, with firearms, searched for the intruder. One son during the excitement mistook bis father (or the burglar and fired, killing his father.' A lat> r version of the shooting is given by Field's son. He saw a stranger at the gate wiio did not return a friendly greeting. \fter warning those inside, he again approached the st-anger, who fired. Another son fired a couple of shots to frighten the, stranger, who. it is now believed, fired in return, killing Fieid.
