WANAKA NOTES.
(I,\KK COUNTY PRESS CORRESPONDENT.) Weather. Tli(> weather during t.he last few weeks has been very warm and dry. There docs not appear to be any break yet and rain is badly needed, everything having a burnt up appearance. Tourists. The tourists are coming to Wanaka in large numbers now and the local hotel has all the accommodation available taken up. Numbers are travelling by motor car this season. Mr Harvey runs a daily service from Clyde, leaving after the arrival of the train and reaching Pembroke at 8 p.m This enables passengers to now reach Pembroke from Dunedin in the one day. It is a service which is greatly appreciated by the travelling public. General. The shearing is getting well through All the local runholders have finished and those at Makarora and the back country are shearing now. Those who had wool in at tbe first sale are well satisfied with the prices the wool realised, being tbe highest for yeare. Messrs Seaife Bros, of Glendhu got top price for the district. Harvesting has started and will soon be in full swing. Farmers at Mt. Barker have started cutting their barley. The crops have come in very fast this year with tbe dry weather.
