Messns Waters, Hitcdie, and Co., auctioneers, wool, stock, grain, produce, and commission agents, report (wholesale) for the week as under. All quotations are subject to market fluctuations :

Wheat.—The market rather lirmer. Host velvet and Tuscan 3/8 to 3,11, medium ;3/IJ to 3/7, fowl wheat, 3/2 lo 3/5 (sacks extra). Oats. —Demand fairly active. Milling 2s Od, bngnt short tied '2s 5d lo '2s s\d, medium and inferior 2s 3d to 2s 4d.

Barley. —We havo a good demand for prime malting samples. ltabbitskins.—Sales every week. Damand keen and prices higher. Suckers and runners 4d tosd, summers Od to'.ld, autumns lid to 13d icr lb, incomings 15d to Kid, winters iCd to I9d. selected docs 20d to 2'2d.

Mieepskius. —Sales weekly. The demand is goof, uut prices aie without alteration. E, Shiel and Co., Auctioneers, Fruit, Produce, Grain and Commission Agents, Stafford Street, Dunedin, report for week ending August IS, Hill : Eggs.—Liguicc supplies coming forward have caused a much firmer market. Wo recommend regular consignments, as there is little chance of the market improving from now ou. We quote—Guaranteed stamped Is Id to '/2, ordinary castd Is. Wc expect values to recede somewhat. Butter. —All classes are extremely scarce. We quote—East quality storekeepei's pound pats (separator) lid to Is, ordinary pats 10d to lid. The demand is good Poultry —Good demand for well-conditioned birus. (Jock turkeys 7d lb, hens Gd, ducks (plump) 4/6 per pair, young roosters 4--, hens 3/0 per pair. Honey. - Consignments of good bright clover readily saleable at 4d per lb, pats attractively got up 3s to 3s 3d, lbs 5s to 5s od, 'Jibs 7s (id to lis.

Cheese. Very scarce. Well matured Akaroa up to GU\, loaf up to 6s&. Bacon—Medium weights lijd per lb, quality guaranteed ; hams 7Jd. Pigs.—Excellent demand for good baconers (140 to I7o's)4|d to 4Ad per lb, heavierweights at relatively lower rates, butcher's pigs (100"s to 130's) 4\d per lb. Chuff —More enquiry is experienced, but there is little margin for whipping at present in compi tition with Noithern markets, which are lower in values. We quote—Prime quality black oat sheaf at £4 5s per ton, white cat up to £4 2s Gd, medium quality £3 15s ton. Hay.—Prime clover £3 10s per ton.

Straw.—We have handled fully 100 tons of wheaten this week. To-day's value—wheatan 32/0 ton, oaten 45/- to 47/0. Pollard 11.35, bran 955. Swedes 30s to 32s 6d. Carrots—Better demand. 40s to 455,

Oats.—Market has tinned considerably. A grade 2s 8d to '2s Hhd, B 'is 7*d. Fowl Wheat—ln sympathy with milling wheat, this is steadier, and supplies are very light. To-day prime samples of fowl wheat are worth 3/4 to 3/5 per bushel. Potatoes. —Quite a stir was occasioned in the early part of this week, a rumor having bean abroad that potatoo3 would bo allowed to go into the Commonwealth, where potatoes are bringing from £8 in Sydney to £3O in Perth. Enquiries, however, soon set tbis at rest that notliing but potatoes grown ill Australia would be allowed to land in any of jthose ports. We guarantee the fullest market prices, and tui3 week have cleared several lines of prime potatoes at Gss to 70s per ton. Wo are prepared to offee on trucks for good lines in the country, and to those desirous of selling we will be glad to hear from. Vegetables of all kinds are scarce. Cauliflowers 7s to 10s per dozen. Cabbages— Cs (id per dozen. Vegetable Marrows, Gs to 7s per sack.

Pumpkins —4s (id to os lid per sack. Apples.—Locals, good demand, choice '2sd lb, medium 2 ; Jd lb, dessert sorts 7s to 8s case. Llobart appits -Choicest SPM's 9s Gd to 10s case, medium 9s, French crabs 8s 9d to 9s 3d case, New York Pippins 9s case. Pears—Cooking 2.Jd lb, Winter Nolis to 4dlb, Melbourne Winter Nelis lis to J2s case.
