ARROW BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting was held on Monday evening last and attended by His Worship the Mayor, and Crs Jopp, Adams, Payne, Grant, Romans and Stephenson. Accounts to the amount of £72 18s 8d were passed for payment, leaving a debit balance at Bank of £37014s lid.

The Mayor said that the Charitable Aid Board wished to dispose of a safe which had been utilised by the Trustees. It would be useful to the Council.

The Mayor proposed and Cr Adams seconded —That the Board be asked to put a price on it. Moved by Cr Romans seconded by Cr Payne as an amendment—That £7 be offered for the safe. The motion was carried.

The Mayor said he had had the seats repaired in the Athoneum Hall, He said that those hiring the hall should be hold responsible for damage to seats. The Council agreed to this and a motion to the effect was carried. Cr Adams considered that papers should remain in the Reading Room for 12 hours after receipt of same. He also suggested that persons removing papers bo prosecuted. There had been many complaints. Councillors agreed with Cr Adams. Cr Payne wished to know' how often drains Avere flushed out. If they were flushed out regularly there would be a saving in expense in the future. Cr Romans asked if the dayman flushed out the pipes weekly. This was necessary. The dayman said these things had not been attended to in the winter months, but would receive attention now. Ho did not know that he had to flush the drains out.

Cr Jopp said that now the weather

was good the streets- should be swept weekly. The dayman said he would attend to the work. Ct Stephenson said the acetylene gas lamp was alight at daylight on several mornings. The dayman said it took some little tune to regulate the quantity of carbide to be used This concluded the business.
