THE QUEENSTOWN LETTER.

(From a correspondent). Prior to hia departure for Invercargill, Constable Bonnor, who has been stationed in Queenstown for the last 14 years, was farewelled on Saturday evening last by the Mayor and citizens. He was made the recipient of a purse of sovereigns All present testified to Constable Bonnor’s many sterling qualities, and wished him in future every success and prosperity. Tho entertainment by the Choral Society in the Garrison Hall on the 28th was a pronounced success. It was indeed a musical treat. The efforts of the performers met with hearty appreciation. Our energetic president, Mr Searle, is doing his beat to popularise the game on the Goldfields. Already a few tourists are putting in an appearance. A record number is expected this season judging by advices from the outside world.
