THE FARMERS' COLUMN.
Messrs A; Moriizon and Co. report : We have had cables to day from S. Africa ordering a thousand cases of chickens, equal to 15,000 birds also a thousand cases of fowls, equal to 15,000, also an order for 500 turkeys and for 100 cases of geese. We are very sorry to say that we have not b?en able to take up this order as we have _ already plenty orders in hand, ar.d the birds are coming forward very slowly. Since we reported to you last the prices all round have been raised by our S. African friends and this should surely be au inducement to the country people to forward tho poultry to the Poultry Dept., on our account while the demand is on. We wish you to be good enough to give this wide publicity so that the farmo-s can forward the poultry while there is a chance of clearing them oat of the country and while the prices, which are the highest that ate offering, last, seeing that the Govt, pay the railage on all poultry that is consigned.
