A Prince's Death.
Prince Henry of Battenberg, hatband of,H.R.H. Princess Baatrice, who volunteered for the Ashantee campaign but was stricken down by African fever and was sent back to the coast, died on board one of the warships cn the 20th inst., off Sierra Leone, when on way to England. Prince 'Henry of Battenberg was proceeding to Maderai when a relapse set in. The Queen is quite prostrated and bad a dedicate interview with Princess Beatrice in breaking the news. The Agents-general have written to Mr Chamberlain expressing the heartfelt sympathy of the colonies with the Queen on the death of Prince Henry of Battenberg. The Premier, on behalf of ihe people o£New Zealand, yesterday sent for transmission to the Queep a message of sympathy and condolence in her sorrow for the bereavement of her daughter, the Princess Beatrice. The Queen and Princess Beatrice are recovering from the news of the death of Prince Henry of Battenberg. The Prince will be buried at Whippingham accordance with his will.
