Three slacks of wheat, a quantity of threshed wheat, and a threshing machine, were burnt at Mr Thomas Halls farm near Timaru during the night of the 29th ult. He estimates the loss at £I,OOO, and is partially insured: in the Norwich Union for£469, and the New Zealand for £l6O. There is no clue to the cause of the fire, but it is supposed that, spine men were sleeping in the straw and smoking. -i *
