(Per Java Wire.) London, Nov. 4. A great demonstration of the advocates of Home Rule for Ireland and of Republicans, was held yesterday in Hyde Park, to demand the release of the Fenian prisoners. 30,000 persons were present. ~ Nov. 6. General Grant has been re-elected President of the United States by the Republican vote, by a majority of three hundred thousand. He had a majority of thirty-five thousand in New York. France pays to Prussia this week a 200,000,000f. instalment. A proposition to elect M. Thiers President for a period of four years is to be submitted to the Assembly. Nov. 9. Sir George Bowen succeeds Viscount Canterbury as Governor of Victoria; and Sir James Ferguson (Governor of South Australia) succeeds Sir George Bowen as Governor of New Zealand. Nov. 10. A disastrous fire broke out at Boston U.S., this morning. A large number of buildings have been destroyed. The damage already done is estimated at 200,000,000 dols., and the fire is still progressing.
