QUEENSTOWN RUGBY TOURNEY
Large Attendance Present
The annual seven-a-side Rugby tournament was held on the Queenstown Recreation Ground ' last Saturday. There was a large attendance of visitors. Arrangements were under the guidance of Mr W. Hore, secretary of the Wakatipu Sub-union. He was ably assisted by members of the Sub-union committee and especially by the referees’ Association. Results were: — Senior: —Anderson Bros. 16, Arrowtown A nil; Queenstown 8, Arrow B 5; Heriot 3, Balfour 8; Wanaka 6, Queenstown Old Boys 3; Bannockburn 3, Country nil; Anderson Bros. 18, Queenstown nil; Balfour 16, Cromwell nil; Semi-finals. —Balfour 16, Anderson Bros. 5; Bannockburn 6, Wanaka nil. Final. —Balfour 15, Bannockburn 3.Junior (Under 20 years of age).— Cromwell (winners) 3, Wanaka nil. Under 17 years of age. —Cromwell 23, Queenstown B nil; Queenstown A 30, Arrow nil. Final. —Cromwell 14, Queenstown A nil. School Grade.—Cromwell 22, Arrow nil; Wanaka 23, Queenstown B nil; Cromwell 6, Queenstown A 3; Wanaka 24, Arrow nil; Queenstown A 9, Queenstown B 3. Final. —Cromwell 6, Wanaka 3. Midget Grade. Arrowtown 12, Queenstown nil. Referees and line umpires were Messrs W. Hayward, R. J. Payne, L. Hanrahan, W. Robins, C. Kitto, H. Foote and J. G. Forbes. The Girl Guides provided refreshments on the ground.
