AWAROA BOWLING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the above club, held in the Star Theatre on Tuesday evening of last week, was very well attended, and the enthusiasm shown augurs well forthe coming season. Mr A. J. Hill was voted to the

The annual report and balance sheet, which were adopted, showed a satisfactory state of affairs. Various competitions during the past season were keenly contested, and some very pleasant afternoons were spent by members and friends. The balance sheet showed that in addition to the sum of £25 expended in topdressing the greens, the overdraft had been reduced by £15.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : —

Patron, Mr Jas. Stewart; president, Mr W. Coutts ; senior vice-president, Mr R. Smith; vicepresidents, Rons. J. G. Coates, C. J. Parr, Messrs T. Keane, A. M. Stirling, J. Wilson, Jno. Grey, N. W. Rimmer, Capt. Menzies.

Green superintendent: Mr J H. Leonard.

Committee: Messrs J. Livesey, Dwerryhouse, T. Cooper, Fastier, W.. Hunt, Ellett, A.J. Hill, J. Constable, R. Screaton, J. Stanaway, Duncan, Cuthbert, with power to add.

Auditor; Mr Fastier. Selector and handicapper : Mr J. Stanaway.

Delegates: Messrs W. Coutts and J. Stanaway.

Match secretary : Mr T. Cooper

The following new members were elected: Messrs Fastier. Morgan, Foreman, Hagan, Weston, Cheshire, Kearney, Osborne. Mr Shirley Frost was appointed caretaker.

It was decided to hold the official opening on Labour Day, Monday, October 31st.

On the motion of Mr C. Sandin, seconded by Mr Cooper, it was decided to raise the subscription to three guineas. An amendment that the sub. remain at 2}/£ gns. (Leonard —R. Smith) was lost.

The following notice of motion, previously before a committee meeting, was moved by Mr C. Sandin : "That members shall be admitted to the club by election at a meeting of the management committee, unless a ballot be demanded by any member of the committee ; name and address of applicant, together with names of proposer and seconder, shall be posted on pavilion notice, board at least one week before election." Seconded by Mr Leonard, and

The resignation of Mr A. M. Hammond, last year's president, was recorded with regret; also the resignation of Mr W. Mouat, last year's secretary.

Votes of thanks to the retiring officers were passed.
