Methodist Quarterly Meeting,
l The usual quarterly meeting of the , Port Albert Methodist Church was , held on Monday. October 13th, in the afternoon and evening. The revenue I for the quarter more than met tho 5 expenses. The reports of tho Sunday I School and Christian Endeavour i showed that matters were in a highly satisfactory condition. Mr Strand, I minister, was unanimously asked to s remain in the Circuit for another year. The eveniug mooting was well attended, and a very interesting programme ■ was rondered. The Rev Jory pre- ; sided, That Hall ! After months of patient waiting on the part of the public, and sundry decidedly interesting—if not approaching to exciting—meetings on the part or Shareholders aud Trustees, a decided stop has been taken by those interested in building the Hall on a more cen« trai site At a meeting of Subscribers to the new site, held in the Druid's Lodge room, it was decided to commence^ building without further delay. It was also decided to notify the Shareholders of the Old Hall' Association, of this iutentiou, so that tho responsibility of building a secoud Hall on the old site would rest entirely upon their shoulders. A Building Committee was set up. to report at next meeting of Subscribers to be held on October 30th. Concert. A concert to raise funds to clear the small debt upon the new piano installed in the Druid Lodge room, will le held in that building on Friday November 7th. The management have engaged the services of Mr T. Harris, Auckland's well-known elocutionist and entertainer. The Pprogress op Druidism. An event which marks an epoch in the progress of the Star of Albertland Druid Lodge, was the opening of the new Lodge room on Wednesday last. Through the destruction of the Hall tho Druids lost a considerable amount of property. Iv the interim, the meetings have been held in the Church , kitchen. Mr L. P. Becroft, in his address, congratulated the youno , people of the district on the magnifi- ■ cient success of their efforts in build- \ ing a room su_h as the present builcU i ing. Mr T. Hartnell effusively pro- \ pounded the advantages of Druid- • ism, ad fiuitum. A very interesting \ programme was rendered by members s and friends. The proceedings con- ,f concluded with a short dance, which i was well attended. t S.voiits. f Croquet and Tennis are now in full \ swing Enthusiasts of either game are hopeful of a more successful 1 season than last—both financially-- '1 aud otherwise. t
