The Gentlemen's Ball held on Friday evening, 17th. was voted by all as a huge success. Notwithstanding threatening weather a fair number of guests attended, some from as far as Auckland, and the local people were well represented, as also friends from Helensville and Waimauku. Quite a number wore fancy dress, and added variety to the more .^epnventional garments. - Amoiigst those present were : Mrs R. Drinnan, black silk ; Mrs Ja_. Drinnan, black silk ; Mrs Wm. Drinnan, white silk; Mrs Geo. Dye, blue silk overdress, floral muslin, sequin trimmings ; Mrs Belleni, creme satin, creme chiffon overdress, with blue beads finishing; Mrs R. Osbaldiston, creme lace ; Mrs Browne, blue voile ; Mrs Lee, champagne voile with blue finishings ; Mrs Mumford, creme blouse, dark skirt; Mrs C. Smith, black voile ; Mrs F. Stewart, pink silk ; Mrs Bruce, creme voile ; Mrs Redwood, pink silk, lace tunic ; Mrs I. Kinlock, white silk, oriental trimming; Airs Goodwin, black velvet ; Mrs R. Kinlock, black voile, relieved with red ; Mrs Watts, creme silk; Mrs J. Drinnan, black silk ; Mrs Downer, creme silk ; Mrs Roller, black silk ; Mrs Millington, grey silk ; Miss Grant, white muslin ; Miss O. Foster, pink floral voile; Miss "VV.. McLeod, creme embroidered satin ; Miss McGehan, pink satin,; Miss Boss, "Archery"; Miss Green, blue silk ; Miss Hamilton, breme voile ; Mifs Shanks, creme silk voile; Miss M. Drinnan, white ■silk, champagne ninon overdress, Bulgarian finishing ; Miss O' Keefo, creme voile, lace trimmings Miss Dormer, creme voile, trimmed with lace insertion ; Miss Roberts, tangerine silk muslin ; Miss Dye, primrose satin, red roses ; Miss I. McLeod, " Yachting " ; Miss Hootton, "Fish girl" ; Miss Hootton, blue silk overdress; Baxter, " Pierrette " i Miss V. Drinnan, tangerine, with flowered creme overdress ; Miss Betteridge, blue satin ; Miss N. Betteridge, white satin ; Misses Shane, and Webster, Quaker girls. Among the gents Mr F. Dye senr. as Sir Peter Teazle and Mr Geo. Dye as Uncle Sam were the most effective in fancy dress.
