THE Kaipara Advertiser, AND WAITEMATA CHRONICLE. WEDNESDAY, OCT. 1, 1913. THE £3,000 LOAN.

There is only one thing for the ratepayers to do at to-morrow's poll on the question of borrowing a further sum of £3,000 to complete the water and drainage scheme, for it would be the height of absurdity to stop the works after laying out a sum of £10,000, which is at present unproductive. The various reasons why the original estimate was exceeded have been fully set forth and scarcely need elaboration at this juncture, as we think ratepayers will be pretty well unanimous in desiring the scheme to be pushed on to completion as early as possible. It will be well, however, for those who ar e in the van in reference to tow n affairs to take no risks on thi^s question, and see that a substantial vote is recorded. If there are ratepayers dissatisfied with the progress of the t scheme and the administration, thereof their remedy is to "speed up," the Town Board.; no good purpose would be -served by voting against the. loan. It was clearly shown at the public meeting to consider the loan proposal, which was unanimously approved, that the money was required, and all that now remains is for the ratepayers to confirm their former decision.
