Obituary.

Sincere sympathy is expressed throughout the district to Mr F. S. Tarrant and family, of Woodhill, in the sad bereavement he has sustained by the loss of his wife, who passed away early on Tuesday morning after experiencing a very painful illness. The deceased lady was attacked by cancer in the early part of the year, which lately became of a serious nature. She gradually got worse and the end came about 1 o'clock on Tuesday morning. The deceased experienced much suffering of late and her death was expected at any time. This was the first illness she ever met with.

The deceased lady was widely known and highly esteemed in the district, Mr Tarrant having been about here for the past 30 years, and had resided at Woodhill for 20 years past. She had reached the age of 57 years.

The funeral takes place at Helensville cemetery this afternoon.

Another of the district's pioneer settlers passed away last week in Mr Maurice Henley, of Kaukapakapa. The late Mr Henley took up land in the district about 52 years ago, and was well-known and esteemed over a wide area. He was a prominent member of the School and Library Committees for many years, and being of strong literary tastes rendered valuable service in such capacity. There was a large attendance at the funeral, showing the esteem in which the deceased was held.
