GENERAL ELECTION SUMMARY.

In a return presented to the House of Representatives a few days ago concerning last General Election, it is shown that of the total number of votes recorded in the Waitomo electorate Mr. W. J. Broadfoot secured 4858, and Mr. J. Jones 4529; there were 43 informal votes, so the total votes recorded were 9430. As the total number on the roll v/as 9990, it appears that 560 did not exercise their privileges. The percentage of votes recorded for Mr. Broadfoot to the total valid votes was 51.75 and to the total number of electors was 48.63. The population of the present Waitomo electorate, according to the 1936 census, was 17,036.
