VALEDICTORY
PRESENTATION TO MR. AND MRS. T. M. CRAWFORD. A farewell was extended to to Mr. T. M. Crawford, Postmaster at Te Kuiti, by the Post and Telegraph staff in the local office on Friday last. Mr. Crawford completes his 40 years of service with the Department at the end of the year, and intends to go on an extended tour of Australia and South Africa before retiring in Auckland.
About 50 of the Department staff gathered for last Friday’s function, when the supervisor, Mr. R. W. Belk, on behalf of the local staff and of the staff of the sub-offices of the district, presented Mr. Crawford with a gold wristlet watch, and Mrs. Crawford with a handbag.
Mr. Belk paid high tribute to Mr. Crawford’s excellent work as Postmaster in Te Kuiti, mentioning particularly his courteous and kindly manner of dealing with both the staff and public, and the capable handling of Post Office affairs generally. Other speakers also spoke in a similar strain.
After returning thanks Mr. Crawford related several entertaining incidents in his 40 years of service with the Department.
At a later function, when the staff were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford, a further presentation of a pipe and pouch was made to Mr. Crawford.
