MOTORIST CONVICTED
INTOXICATED DRIVER. “I do not believe those witnesses," said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Otahuhu Police Court on Monday, after hearing evidence on behalf of Rex Ivo Harford, motor-driver, aged 26 (Mr. Bryce Hart), who was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car. Accused pleaded guilty at the last sitting of the Court, but, when counsel submitted that accused had not actually been driving the car prior to being apprehended by the police, the magistrate ordered an adjournment to enable witnesses to be called.
On Monday Mr. McKean sentenced Harford to 14 days’ imprisonment and ordered his license to be withdrawn f«r 12 months.
