WEDDING

GILCHRIST—CARTER. A very pretty wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Te Kuiti, on Saturday, 23rd April, of Miss Helen Irene Carter, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Carter, of Te Kuiti, and Mr. Robert James Alexander Gilchrist, of Waitati, Dunedin. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. T. Brabyn, and the Wedding March was played by Mr. Richard Ferguson. The bride, who entered the church with her father, looked charming in a gown of angel-skin crepe de chine, which featured the new high cowl neckline, fastened at the back with a row of tiny buttons. The sleeves were long fitting, ending in a point over the hands. She also wore gold ear drops and chain which had belonged to the bride's great-grand-mother. Her veil of embroidered tulle was held to the head with a halo of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, roses and carnations and maidenhair fern. In attendance were the two bridesmaids, Miss Thora Robins, of Auckland, and Miss Nora Johnston, of Te Kuiti, whose frocks were fashioned alike of daffodil taffeta with blue velvet trimmings and blue pleated caps to tone, and each carried a bouquet of blue shaded flowers. The best man was Mr. Jack Carter, brother of the bride, and Mr. Ted Carter acted as usher. At the reception which followed at The Tourist Tea Rooms, the bride's mother received her fifty guests in a navy costume and peach bloom hat to match. Her bouquet was of autumn tint flowers. The bridegroom's mother wore a black and pink ensemble, hat to tone, with autumn tint bouquet. Later the happy couple left for an extended tour of the North and South Islands, the bride travelling in a navy costume and navy accessories.
